The Story

The Nicklas Financial family approached MediaCross in 2012 to help with their overall marketing and communication plan. During the discovery process with the multi-generation family business, MediaCross uncovered a need to reposition the Nicklas brand. Nicklas needed to stand out from competitors and become a trusted voice in the industry. The Nicklas Financial brand boiled down to one thing: being a trustworthy advisor.

Together we built a brand that reflected who Nicklas is. The visual theme we adopted, a chess board, was a nod to the complexity of the financial world and cast Nicklas as the chess master, teaching, guiding, and winning the game of retirement.


The Nicklas logo includes the Nicklas name merged with a rook chess piece. The visual drove the idea that chess and finance have parallels including planning and strategy.


The website redesign for Nicklas won a W-3 award in 2014 for the Financial Services category.

Explainer Video
MediaCross and the Draw Shop collaborated to produce an explainer video. The video gives a quick outline on how Nicklas can help support fiduciaries in their role.
To promote brand awareness and reach new potential clients, MediaCross developed Every Move Matters print ads to run in local publications.
Content Strategy / Blog
MediaCross uses the Nicklas blog to write strategic content on an ongoing basis. The blog is useful to anyone seeking financial advice and positions Nicklas as a thought leader in their industry.
