The Story

Park University in Parkville, Missouri, sought a creative partner to develop engaging traditional student recruitment publications and an email series that would supplement previous brand development and internal teams’ efforts.

MediaCross developed the following to answer their specific challenges: (1) gaps in email communication to seniors after application, and juniors early in the college search process, (2) better and clearer financial aid and scholarship information for a largely first-generation student audience, (3) need for more campus visitors, and (4) desire to focus on building affinity and influencing the final decision for admitted students.

Adventure Map Brochure with Interactive Survey
A campus visit leaves a lasting impression on prospective students and makes them more likely to enroll. The challenge is getting students to come. MediaCross designed a hand-lettered treasure map of Park’s campus to pique curiosity and to drive students to a landing page where they can design and personalize their own campus visit. The brochure’s call to action included an interactive survey to boost responses and further customize Park’s campus visits. The mailer will not only get more students to visit Park, but also it will tailor their time on campus to make the experience meaningful.
Email Communication Series
We started with the email series, building 10 unique, custom templates with copy that focused on various touch points and actions for both juniors and seniors. The emails aligned with internal efforts, so they could be integrated into Park’s ongoing communication flow. We also used Park’s school mascot, a pirate, as a core theme in copy and design to keep the communication interesting and fun. Topics kept students engaged with useful tips for financial aid as well as with fun facts about the school.
Financial Aid Brochure
Many of Park’s incoming students are first-generation. Prospective students and families need clearer information with step-by-step instructions to assist with the process of applying for financial aid and scholarships. MediaCross created the design to be flexible for mailing and as a tool for recruiters.
Admitted Student Posters with Interactive Survey

Admission to any university is an important moment for students. To help create a special memory for accepted Park students, MediaCross wrote and designed a web-based interactive survey to learn more about them. The survey gains more insight into the students’ personality and temperament. MediaCross applies each student’s survey results to create a personalized poster that prominently displays the student’s name along with a creative call to action that prompts the student to commit to Park. Themes for the poster ranged from motivational to pop culture to sports. The end result is a unique way to build affinity for Park University and reinforce their choice to attend in the fall.

We aren’t ready to unveil what the future holds for Park University and MediaCross, but we are sure it’s going to have a wow factor that gains more interest and drives prospective students to enroll.
